Samayah's World: Where's Justice?

Samayah was everyone’s support system, everyone’s best friend, Lee said. “She spent all of her free time taking care of her friends and family.”

Author's Note:  I need to stress (As with most of my posts) that I did speak to Samayah's mother briefly before writing this entry. I asked her a few questions and she was very polite and despite not knowing who the hell I even am. She answered them. My writing style and whats laid out in this entry does NOT reflect any of her views in any way. She was respectful not only to the Fort Wayne Police Department. But to the two people who fled the scene of the accident that caused her daughter's death. I didn't even tell her I was writing this entry. She found out after I published it.

“We are not getting callbacks, we are not getting follow-ups,” Lee said. “And that, as a parent, or just as a person, is infuriating to me.”

A Little About Samayah

Samayah Nirobie Barker-Lee was born on March 1st 2004 to Tony and Rheanna Lee. At the time, Samayah was 17 and was already showing how responsible she was. She was working at Subway (Almost full time) as well as being a student at Belmont High School where she was a Junior. Samayah was your average teenager. She loved to Skate, Dance, Go to Music Concerts, and Fish. She was known for her hair style, doing her nails, and her big eyelashes. You can just tell how outgoing she was by just looking at her pictures. The young lady was full of smiles and life. Unfortunately, Oftentimes the saddest of life's realities tell us that souls this full of life are destined to help elsewhere.....

Samayah on the night of the accident. Before attending the party.

The Accident

At around midnight Samayah called her mom from the party she was attending. She told her that she was having a great time and would be headed home soon. Her mother had what she described as an "odd feeling" that night. She described it as nothing bad. But she really missed her. And wanted to go pick her up herself. But she didn't. She did what any parent in her situation would do. She let her daughter have fun at her friend's party. In the early morning hours on Sunday, July 4th Samayah Barker (17) was a passenger in a 4 door truck along with her boyfriend, cousin, and cousin's boyfriend. At approximately 1:25 am when they were coming back from the party. The truck Samayah was in was traveling north on Lafayette St. When the truck was approaching the intersection of Clinton St. and McKinnie Ave. A car attempting to make a turn onto McKinnie collided with the truck. The truck in turn lost control and wrapped itself around a telephone pole. Pinning one of the occupants. The real tragic part of this is all 3 other occupants of the truck came away with their lives. Yes there were injuries. However, Samayah didn't. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to reports it looked as if she was just sleeping. (If that doesnt make you cry. I dunno what will.) And what of the occupants of the car? Lets get into that.....

Notice-No Paper Plates On The Car
The Actual Car. Yes that's it.

Immediately After The Accident

“For the longest time they (Fort Wayne Police) told us they were waiting on the DNA,” Lee said. “How do you not know who did this when they left the car there?”

Accidents happen everyday. Tragic things happen in vehicles like this every single day. No one means for things like this to happen. As tragic as they are. Most of the time. Whoever causes the accident takes responsibility. And by reading the reports. This looks to be an accident. Unintentional. At first. However, The accident label quickly becomes a misnomer. I wanna state before going into this part. The persons inside the truck. Including Samayah herself all tested negative for any drugs or alcohol. Zero. These were kids just having fun. And what of the occupants of the car? That's unclear. According to witnesses. The 2 occupants of the car immediately fled the scene on foot. Yes, You read that correctly. Gonna go into a little tangent here.... Forgive me.

ADD Tangent

Its one thing if this were to happen and the two involved got scared and took off. That's human nature. People get scared. That's being human. However, You cease to become a member of the human race when a 17 year old girl, who had her life in front of her, loses her life because you're too dumb (And BLIND) to see a 4 door truck coming your direction. Not only do you fail to see it. You attempt to make a turn into the same lane the truck is traveling in. And you end up causing an accident. Eventually if you are a human. Your conscience kicks in. You know, The thing that talks to you. Tells you that you should feel bad that a mother lost her daughter. A father lost his daughter. Her siblings lost their sister. Her more than 500 friends who attended her funeral (On top of the friends and family who couldn't) will never see her smile, hear her laugh, or her voice again. Yea, That little voice that all humans have. That apparently neither of you have. If either of you were human. After your emotions calmed down and your adrenaline wore off. And you heard the news reports that one kid lost her life. And another went into a coma. That should've been enough for you to turn yourselves in. Even if you were scared. But you didn't. Which makes you two even worse. End of tangent.

The identities of the two COWARDS responsible for this accident have yet to turn themselves in. It only gets "better" from here. Not only did these two assholes leave the scene of an accident that killed a 17 year old girl and injured 3 others....THEY CAME BACK after the accident and REMOVED the paper plates from the car. And despite the car being left at the scene. With probably more DNA left in it than the set of an Adult Movie. No further developments have been made. Or so the Fort Wayne Police Department claims.

AFTERMATH

As I stated before. There was plenty of DNA in the car that was left. And according to Samayah's mother, There was also blood! Yet, We are going on 3 years with no closure for this family. None. It's unacceptable. Apparently she was told there was a backlog on DNA because of Covid. However, From what I was able to ascertain. Based on interviews. Ft. Wayne Police have been negligent as hell. Not only regarding informing the mother of leads that don't pan out. But with keeping her up to date in general. This isn't a hard case to solve! They have the fucking car, blood, prints. The whole nine yards and you're telling me that you have to wait for the DNA to be tested? If you listen to Rheanna Lee's interview with Police Pod Talk. She was told there might NOT be DNA in the car. This is beginning to sound very suspicious.

ANALYSIS

I am usually very pro law enforcement. I've dated women who absolutely detest law enforcement all together. And I am the one usually defending them. So this is an odd spot for me to be in. How in the hell do you have the car and don't tell me there weren't fingerprints inside the car. No one wears gloves driving that kind of car past midnight. Not to mention there were 2 people. Even without the god damn plates you have a VIN number for the car. Law Enforcement had told her that it wasn't "registered". Ok, I'm no scientist. Nor do I make cars. But I have never seen a car just appear outta nowhere. If that can happen. I need to know. Because I really need one. The damn thing comes from somewhere. And do you think for one second that if Samayah was the daughter of a Law Enforcement official that it would take this long to find the two inside that car? Or to get justice? No it wouldn't. Ft Wayne Police Department isn't doing a damn thing! But I can! From this point on like I do with all my cases. I'll be helping Samayah's mom 110% if she needs me to.
