Special thanks to the "Village Crazy Lady" and her hubby for helping me. They were both vital in making this entry possible. Also the reporting on details in this case from various agencies is atrocious. His truck's make and model varies depending on the source. From a GMC to a Chevy and the year either is a 93 or a 95. As does one of the persons of interest descriptions. And whether he called his girlfriend or she called him. Its all very maddening. This will be part one of a 2 part entry. Part 2 will be some months down the road. In part two I will delve more deeply into the known persons of interest. I dedicated the song SPIRIT IN THE SKY to this case. Because I know that's where Stephen is....

CIRCUMSTANCES OF DISAPPEARANCE
Monday December 13th, 2004
"He told me he was in Keys, recalled Farr, 18. "I asked him why he was in Keys. He said he had to take some guy home. At one point, I could hear what sounded like the muffled voice of a man in the background. I just said, OK,' and we continued talking. I asked him how he thought he did on his final. We talked for about four minutes, and then he told me he loved me and goodbye."
Breanna Farr
Stephan's Girlfriend at the time
Stephan completed a Final Examination at Northeastern State University and was last seen driving away from the campus in his white truck at around 10:45 am that morning. He was last heard from by his then Girlfriend Breanna Farr by cell phone. She had called him (Or he called her. Reports vary) and he stated he was giving an Unknown Male (At the time) a ride to the Keys area. (No, He didn't actually call the guy "Unknown Male") The call to Breanna occurred at 11:07 am. (According to reports) He informed Breanna he would be heading to his mother's house in Webbers Falls after he dropped the man off in Keys. Breanna stated he sounded fine and she heard another male voice in the truck. Stephan was scheduled to come into work at 5 pm and never came in. He also never finished the rest of his exams. There has been no activity on Adams Checking Account since his disappearance. He didn't have any money on him at the time and not a lot of gas either. (That is what is reported, Odd since he decided to give a ride to what we assume is a stranger.) At the time he lived with a Cousin in an apartment in Tahlequah. His Cousin tried calling him at 11:30. But the call rang once and went straight to voicemail. After that all calls went to voicemail. After Extensive Interviews with Stephan's neighbors and others working in the area has Law Enforcement believing a man parked in the Dollar General store parking lot on East Downing in Tahlequah on the day of Stephan's disappearance. Law Enforcement believe this individual has information that would help in their investigation. The man is described as Caucasian between 40-50 years of age with either Brown or Salt and Peppered Colored Hair possibly wearing a Beard and a Mustache. The facial hair was described as having around 4 days of growth. He is reported to be 5'11 inches tall and weighing 190 lbs. He was wearing a Tanned Colored Carhartt Jacket, Faded Blue or Black blue jeans, A Flannel Shirt, a Dark Green Stocking Cap and Eyeglasses. The man in question was driving anywhere from an older model to a 2000 Ford Ranger Pickup Truck Black or Dark in color with a Silver Tool Box in the back. Its also reported that there was a suspicious looking man milling around Stephan's Apartment Complex the day he disappeared. Whether this is the same man or not is not known at this time. But with the different reports as to the appearance of the man. It could be that there were two separate people in the area at the time. Possibly working in tandem staking out Stephan's apartment. Either way the or one of the persons of interest apparently told eyewitnesses he worked for a construction site in nearby Keys. And was waiting for someone to pick him up. According to eyewitnesses no one did. The man disappeared around 11 am. Which coincides to be around the time Stephan disappeared. Adams was last scene at a convenience store near Cookson, Oklahoma. And he was by himself. Which is odd at first. The only thing that can be theorized by this is he was waiting for someone. Who that was is unknown. At the time of his disappearance Adams was involved in an ugly custody battle with his then ex wife Alesha Adams. Stephen was twice charged with Lewd Molestation of a child. (Shayann) In BOTH instances the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. He was on Supervised Visitation as a result. And he was fighting to get it changed. Stephan was scheduled to attend an upcoming hearing at the time regarding this that "coincidentally" he missed due to him disappearing. The hearing was scheduled for the 21st of December. Stephan was never seen or heard from again. Stephan's family hired a Private Investigator to look into their son's case. A D.W. Frye of the Buena Vista Agency in Oklahoma City. He has made some interesting statements.
"He told me he was in Keys, recalled Farr, 18. "I asked him why he was in Keys. He said he had to take some guy home. "Some intelligence already received indicates Stephen Adams was supposed to be nabbed a week or two before Dec. 13, Frye said."
"His Social Security number has not been used. His credit card and his cell phone have not been used, and his pickup truck has not been located or reported being seen," Frye said. "It wasn't about a robbery or anything."
(This is an excerpt from a Muskogee Phoenix Article which link did not work anymore)
The day Stephen Adams came up missing, witnesses saw someone suspicious hanging around the parking lot of his apartment building for several hours. Frye said another witness has come forward about a suspicious stranger in the school parking lot where Adams parked his truck. Investigators believe at least four very organized people may have been involved in what they believe was eventually the abduction of Stephen Adams.
It should be noted that following Stephan's disappearance. Alesha failed a polygraph regarding her ex-husband's disappearance. Some additional info was brought to light when a Petition was sent in to convene a Grand Jury for possible indictments in the case. Interesting statements were made via The Petition....

Indictments were not handed down. His truck has also never been found. Although they did say his truck was found abandoned the following day. I guess one could speculate that a separate crime took place where the people responsible for Stephan's murder parked the truck somewhere and another party found the truck and stole it. Even sold the books back to the University. Likely a junkie(s). The Grand Jury never named the Persons of Interests that were named in The Petition. However they did say they believed the people responsible for Stephan's disappearance DID testify before the Grand Jury. Just curious on why they were never named. Did they believe there was some faulty information in The Petition? Or is Law Enforcement doing their usual silent game? Since his disappearance Law Enforcement has searched numerous sites looking for Stephan's body such as Lake Tenkiller and a wooded area east of the Historic Fort Gibson site in Oklahoma. Nothing ever came of the leads.
“Since [2004], we have identified persons of interest in this investigation, and we do know that Stephan’s truck was found abandoned following that day,” Lyons said. “It was found in Cherokee County, and the people who found the truck stole the contents of the truck, but the truck itself has never been recovered.”

Composite Sketch of "Dollar General Man"
"Even though police have received many leads as to the identity of a man sitting in his dark colored Ford Ranger pickup truck outside the Dollar General next to Adams' apartment the day of his disappearance, we still have not located this person," the OSBI stated. "Investigators believe he could be a key to this case."
